On March 19th 1-2 million according to the police, 3 million according to the organizers, demonstrated throughout France, even more than the demonstrations of January 29th, 2009.

The eight labour unions that called for this action, in order to protest against government policy and demonstrate dissatisfaction in the face of the economic crisis, will decide in the days to come how to follow up these days of general strike.

At the end of the demonstration, following an operation to "distribute food" headed toward Monoprix in the city center and led by students (who asked me not to take photographs that "could end up in the files of the BAC"!) the reaction of the police was brutal.

For me, these were my first photos taken in a demonstration in France, and what's more, with some new equipment, digital!
